Empowering Iraqi Startups: OCIF Awards €27,500 at OC 8 Graduation

The entrepreneurial landscape in Iraq witnessed a significant milestone with the graduation of the Orange Corners Baghdad (OC) 8th cohort. The Orange Corners Innovation Fund (OCIF), a pioneering initiative designed to foster innovation and support startups, marked the occasion by awarding €27,500 in equity-free investments to twelve promising Iraqi startups. This event, held at KAPITA's headquarters in Baghdad, underscored the ongoing commitment to nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit and driving digital transformation in Iraq.

A Dual-Track Approach to Empowerment

The OCIF program operates through a dual-track approach, ensuring comprehensive support for startups at different stages of their journey:

Track 1: Nurturing New Talent

Track 1 focuses on startups currently participating in the Orange Corners Baghdad program. Six startups from the OC 8 cohort were awarded grants and services to help kick-start their ventures. This initial support is crucial for transforming innovative ideas into viable businesses.

Track 2: Accelerating Growth for Graduates

Track 2 is dedicated to graduates from previous Orange Corners cohorts. Six alumni startups received a combined total of €27,500, divided into a €13,750 grant and a €13,750 interest-free loan. This financial boost is aimed at accelerating the growth of these established startups, providing them with the resources and mentorship necessary to scale their operations and impact.

KAPITA's Role in Driving Digital Transformation

KAPITA's involvement in the OCIF program highlights its unwavering commitment to fostering a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in Iraq. By providing crucial funding, mentorship, and resources, KAPITA is enabling startups to overcome challenges and seize new opportunities. The partnership with the Kingdom of the Netherlands Embassy further amplifies these efforts, ensuring that Iraqi entrepreneurs have access to the necessary tools to thrive in a competitive market.

Looking Ahead: A Bright Future for Iraqi Startups

The OC 8 graduation and OCIF awards ceremony represent more than just a celebration of individual achievements; they symbolize a broader movement towards economic resilience and innovation in Iraq. As the digital transformation journey continues, initiatives like OCIF play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Iraqi economy, fostering a culture of entrepreneurship, and driving sustainable development.

By empowering startups and providing them with the financial backing and mentorship they need, OCIF and KAPITA are paving the way for a brighter, more prosperous future for Iraq.

The success of these startups is not only a testament to their hard work and dedication but also a beacon of hope for the entire nation, inspiring the next generation of Iraqi entrepreneurs to dream big and achieve even greater heights.
