Position: Policy Intern
KAPITA is a private sector development company that aims to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through investment, research, incubation/acceleration, and market development programs. In order to upgrade the Iraqi ecosystem, KAPITA is working on new startup development, helping established Iraqi startups and small businesses to scale their (market, production, and evaluation), as well as personal development for entrepreneurs. KAPITA is taking the next logical step, by starting the first incubator and accelerator in Baghdad that hosts the most promising startups, providing them with seed funds, infrastructure and business services, financing and public relations. We will support the community by enhancing the entrepreneurial movement, building youth capacity, and feeding the private sector with human resources and knowledge-based, well-planned successful businesses.
We aim to be the institute that forms the core engine in developing the private sector in Iraq, we believe that to accelerate the growth of ecosystems and Entrepreneurs, there must be a core engine that grows fast in order to cause an overall growth and development to take Iraqi startups and small businesses to the next level.
Duration: Two months
Location: Hybrid - Online and Offline (Baghdad).
Key Responsibilities
Report to the Policy Supervisor
Write reports or perform literature reviews on various subjects.
Cite all material used for research and/or direct quotations.
Always utilize trustworthy and valid sources.
Ensure all written work is authentic and original.
Confirm the accuracy of work according to factual evidence.
Work to outline expectations and requirements established in the project brief.
Self-edit work for spelling, grammatical, and punctuation errors before initial submission.
Revise work based on feedback and line notes received from the seniors.
Research the intended topic thoroughly to gain vital background information.
Conduct interviews with relevant persons to further gain knowledge on a given topic.
Take meeting minutes.
Assist with the events/conferences/roundtable discussions management.
Keep all documents/information (Spoken or written) confidential and do not discuss it with anyone outside of the Advocacy and Policy Department without prior approval of seniors.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program or a recent graduate in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with keen attention to detail in documentation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with document management systems.
Basic understanding of advocacy, public relations, and planning concepts.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Proactive attitude and willingness to take on new challenges with a positive outlook.
Prior experience in logistics coordination, event planning, or documentation management is a plus.
