Orange Corners Baghdad BootCamp has kicked off!

Orange Corners Baghdad starting again from scratch to put together the second cohort for the new round of incubation program.

We closed the applications in late August and we received an overwhelming amount of eager applicants. We have shortlisted over 400 applicants to 45 startups to join our two-days bootcamp. Due to the current situation and in compliance with social distancing measures and for the safety of everyone, we decided to have the bootcamp partially online.

Bootcamp day one started with an 8 hours long online training session that was presented and taken over by six trainers from different backgrounds:

• Hussein Al-Bayati – Country Director for Open Sooq

• Abdulghanny Al-Hassani - Investment Manager at GroFin

• Ahmed Baqer – Supply Manager at Careem

• Mohammed Jamal - R&D Officer at KAPITA

• Ali Ihsan – CEO of AlAwaj Media

• Mujahed Waisi – CEO of KAPITA

Training focused on the main pillars of startups:

• Problem statement

• The solution

• Business model

• Revenue stream

• Market size

• Validation

• Founding team

The trainers helped the participants to further build, structure and reshape their project ideas. After eight hours of continuous work and discussions, they were all ready to pitch their projects in front of the jury the next day.

On bootcamp day two, the participants attended KAPITA Business Hub and pitched their startup for three minutes in front of the jury. The pitch days are considered to be a stepping stone when choosing the best 20 projects to join Orange Corners incubation program for the next 6 months.
